Theatre company founded by Gabriella Bird, Aoife Kennan and Kate Reid.

Plain Heroines were founded by three friends who realised the lack of plays being made by women about women needed addressing.

The company put female stories at the centre of their work, and tell the stories of the plain heroines of the world - those whose lives may be messy and seemingly un-extraordinary, or those whose stories have been hidden and forgotten.

After launching in 2016 with two new plays 'Three Days' Time' and 'Madwomen' at Edinburgh Fringe Festival where they were shortlisted for the Eddies' Award and NSDF Edinburgh Award, they have now relaunched in London and are currently working on a number of projects, joined by producer Ellie Fitz-Gerald.
